Meet your Windsor Individual and Couples Counselor

Hey! I’m Samantha (or Sam – whichever you feel more comfortable calling me) and my pronouns are she/her.

As a counselor, I get to help people experiencing anxiety, challenging relationships, and life transitions find tangible tools to engage, process emotions, communicate, and feel confident in themselves. Before that, my story starts with growing up in the Midwest (which really just translates to “steak and potatoes is my favorite meal.”) Although it will always be home, my partner and I traded the plains for the mountains as soon as we could. I’ve adopted the Colorado ways of brewing my own kombucha and hiking at every possible opportunity (so if you have any suggestions of trails with lake views, let me know!) When I’m not with clients you can find me napping, gardening, drinking tea, playing volleyball, falling over in yoga, and taking way too many pictures of my cat, Molly.

  • Ideally the kind that makes you feel comfortable! I’m a bit eclectic in nature, pulling ideas from various counseling modalities that will guide us in identifying your thoughts, feeling your feelings, and shifting your behaviors in ways that feel tangible for you to help you meet your goals. (If you’re interested in the specifics, I utilize emotionally focused therapy, person centered therapy, and the Gottman method with some cognitive behavioral therapy and somatic experiencing thrown in the mix.)

  • You enjoy humor, sarcasm, and a go-with-the-flow counselor

You want someone who can relate to feeling stuck, overwhelmed, exhausted, and without a clue on how to move forward

You’re open to being challenged (with compassion!)

You want to stop judging yourself

You want tangible tools to integrate in your day to day life

You want to collaborate, utilizing my clinical knowledge and your life expertise to find a way forward that fits for you

  • I can relate to the experience of everything looking great on the surface and feeling like an imposter because things are falling apart on the inside. I’ve been in the place where my anxiety has kept me shut in, spiraling down a path of self-hatred, terrified that there is no way out (and if I’m being honest, I still visit that place from time to time). I’ve been in really good relationships and really bad ones. I know the exhaustion of fighting for the healthy ones and the pain of ending the toxic ones. I love humor as an avoidance tactic and I promise to only use silver lining statements as a joke. In short, I’m a human who wants to give you space to be a human too.
