LGBTQ+ Counseling

For those who want to live their lives authentically as they are

Queer counselor in Windsor Colorado

Figuring out who you are is hard enough.

Figuring out who you are in a world that says straight and cis is the only way to be is exhausting, confusing, defeating, and infuriating.

While you want to live your life true to who you are, you may be wrestling with what that identity actually is and how to explore it safely. Wherever you are at in your process, whether that be questioning your sexuality, trying to figure out how to come out, or navigating new relationships in an identity that fits you, LGBTQ+ counseling can be your best ally.

On the flip side, you may want to focus on other life concerns unrelated to your gender identity or sexual orientation. You deserve a counselor that gets it without them tying everything back to who you’re attracted to or how you identify. Knowing that you don’t have to educate your counselor allows you to get started on the work that is most important to you.

I provide letters for puberty blockers, hormone replacement therapy, and gender affirming procedures based on the WPATH SoC 8.

Hold up.. why is a person with no lived experience working with LGBTQ+ clients?

As a kid I witnessed the criticism some of my family members received about who they loved and how they identified. Not only were they hearing this from the outside world, they were hearing it from the very people that were supposed to protect and love them. It was clear that family was not a safe space, and I soon understood this was not unique to my family. I knew from the start of my counseling journey I wanted to create a space for LGBTQ+ clients to be seen and heard and loved, especially if it was the only place these experiences could happen.

As a person who has the privilege of looking cis and straight, I know I have a lot to learn about you and your experiences. I’ve completed the Queer Competency Certification training and a certificate in gender, women, and sexuality studies, I regularly participate in LGBTQ+ consultation groups and read books and forums relevant to the LGBTQ+ community, and I have worked with queer clients for nine years. If you’re looking for someone with lived experience, that isn’t me. If you’re looking for someone that is continually learning, growing, and seeking out information to support, honor, and affirm you, I’m your gal.
